After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Anak Selby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Anak Selby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Begu Ganjang's Tonio Bergada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 24th minute of play. Alonso Berganza made in the 26th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Begu Ganjang's Tayyip Buğdaycı. In the 28th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tonio Bergada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tonio Bergada was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. After having played for 100 minutes, David Trezeguet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Begu Ganjang's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Trezeguet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
