S.D NARCEA's Paquito Rey got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paquito Rey in the 41st minute of play. Venezuela's attentive Salvador Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Seve Coello made a throw-in in the 46th minute of the game.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Eugeniusz Milko blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. In the 70th minute, Seve Coello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 75 played minutes S.D NARCEA got a freekick which was hit by Roldán Quijana. If Manel Quintanilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 80 played minutes S.D NARCEA got a freekick which was hit by Boleslaw Pacholewski. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugeniusz Milko in the 86th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Venezuela booed when S.D NARCEA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seve Coello didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 89th minute, Tomas Illescas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pietro Macia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
