The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 12th match minute, AFC Ajax Amsterdam was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rajmond Verdonckt to maneuver through the defense. When Francisco Gallo fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bolivia's protests and gave Francisco Gallo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th minute, Francisco Gallo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 20 played minutes AFC Ajax Amsterdam got a freekick which was hit by Ronald Van Hoof. Camilo Freixa made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Pierre-Olivier Debock sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Bolivia's Julio Chicote got a free kick in the 29th minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Pierre-Olivier Debock managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Ajax Amsterdam's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pierre-Olivier Debock was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Isidoor Gijsbrechts's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Camilo Freixa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. In the 38th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfonso de la Cruz to maneuver through the defense. Mario Fernandino hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. A collision led to AFC Ajax Amsterdam getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Pierre-Olivier Debock hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Alfonso de la Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfonso de la Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Bolivia booed when AFC Ajax Amsterdam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre-Olivier Debock didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rajmond Verdonckt during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rajmond Verdonckt was shown his second yellow card after 69 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoor Gijsbrechts in the 92nd minute of play forced Bolivia's goalkeeper Camilo Freixa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AFC Ajax Amsterdam were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Bolivia for a fine match.
