After 15 minutes, Clemente Gabirel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Estudiantes de La Plata and the Honduras players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ertaç Bilek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lázaro Anaya in the 21st minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roque Miro struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Lautaro Navarro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estudiantes de La Plata. In the 29th minute, Joel Hitzeder ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lautaro Navarro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Moises Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ertaç Bilek having to interfere. Lázaro Anaya's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lázaro Anaya helped the player get up and apologised. In the 36th minute, Lázaro Anaya hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Filomeno Flor kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lautaro Navarro. That made the score 2-0 in the 40 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Hitzeder stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Hitzeder in the 54th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Edmundo Espiga took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Ertaç Bilek to make any attempt to save it. Estudiantes de La Plata made a substitution. Pedro Rameriz replaced Filomeno Flor. Emanuel Cortez made in the 68th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Honduras's Christian Sancho. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Villa in the 71st minute of play forced Estudiantes de La Plata's goalkeeper Ertaç Bilek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Honduras's Edmundo Espiga in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Estudiantes de La Plata's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 87 minutes, Sebastian Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Villa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the last second Ertaç Bilek throw himself and got hold of the ball when Edmundo Espiga in the 88thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Luca Espinar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Ertaç Bilek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Many of Honduras's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Honduras may have spent more time on the ball, but Estudiantes de La Plata were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
