Evstati Shushev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Evstati Shushev quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Qarabulud La Forgia got free with Julio Vera in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evstati Shushev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Fred Iemberge tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evstati Shushev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fred Iemberge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd match minute, Oscar Mulero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Barajas to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, Oscar Mulero's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Evstati Shushev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fred Iemberge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Iemberge in the 51st minute of play. In the 51st minute, 苏林勇 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Fred Iemberge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evstati Shushev made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. After 69 minutes, Fred Iemberge made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Efrain Merexildo in the 94th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
