Andries Mangelschot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Marcos Cotilla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When YR Mechelen's Andries Mangelschot in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 43 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Jose Carita. Stanny Van Wontergem made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Abraham Alguacil sent off a good shot on target. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Miguel Van Mechelen to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andries Mangelschot got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 53rd match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Miralles to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the YR Mechelen defense, Tomas Berganza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stanny Van Wontergem. The YR Mechelen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stanny Van Wontergem should have stopped the shot. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Panama had played much better football throughout.
