Firman Morientes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Dante Lacasa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 11 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Frankie De Jong who took care of the corner kick. Timmy Kjellkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 15th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes FC Hans got a freekick which was hit by Javier Riguera. FC Hans's Timmy Kjellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Hans's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Joel Gaona got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Timmy Kjellkvist quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Timmy Kjellkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Timmy Kjellkvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Timmy Kjellkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Timmy Kjellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute, Alberto Tafalla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Leonardo Leoz hit a great ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
