Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Axel Tasis started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 6th minute. A collision led to YR Mechelen getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Joop Leemans hit a great ball. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Andries Mangelschot tried to sneak it across the goal line. Miguel Van Mechelen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 15thth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 16th minute, Joop Leemans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to YR Mechelen getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Pino Van Mechelen hit a great ball. If Miguel Van Mechelen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Van Mechelen in the 32nd minute of play. In the 39th match minute, YR Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Van Mechelen to maneuver through the defense. The audience held their breath when Axel Tasis in the 42nd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Stanny Van Wontergem's left hand side. The crowd rose to their feet as Miguel Van Mechelen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 1-2 in the 48 minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

55 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Van Mechelen came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andries Mangelschot in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The attack was good, but when Andries Mangelschot in the 57th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 60 minutes into the match, Lautaro Puig notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of YR Mechelen's Stanny Van Wontergem. Stanny Van Wontergem was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 62nd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Moruga to maneuver through the defense. Efrain Moruga's late challenge caught a YR Mechelen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Efrain Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. After having played for 74 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77thth minute of the game Miguel Van Mechelen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Van Mechelen came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Van Mechelen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 91st minute Miguel Van Mechelen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 92 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga.
