A throw-in in the 19th minute of the game was made by Efraim Gilabert with Milagros Fraga as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Yunus Mahşer hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in CD Municipal's zone, Milagros Fraga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. George Forsyth came out of the goal and Milagros Fraga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peru were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after CD Municipal's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Alonso Berganza got away a dangerous shot. Despite this George Forsyth quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The crowd rose to their feet as Peru's Alonso Berganza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of George Forsyth. That made the score 1-0 after 38 minutes of play. After 42 played minutes CD Municipal got a freekick which was hit by Aureliano Buendia. Eliseo Mina hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. George Forsyth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 51st minute of play. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mosen Colillas kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. CD Municipal's Gunnar Ekrot was substituted for Zlatan Molina. After a rather tough play, CD Municipal's Mosen Colillas got a free kick in the 64th minute. Luz Tejedor was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 65th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Enrique Cassaretto tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Enrique Cassaretto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. CD Municipal's George Forsyth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafael Gallo in the 87th minute of play. Enrique Cassaretto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. Iacob Roman hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. There was no doubt that Peru were the better team. Peru's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
