Thanks to some nice moves Axel Tasis could shoot a difficult shot in the 39th minute, which Leonard Gregersen however easily saved by the left post. Hans Lilleeng might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hans Lilleeng ran back to his position shaking his head. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 95 minutes, Espen Husøy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kovlands IF and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Espen Husøy kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Kovlands IF's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
