When Hector Covarrubias came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hector Covarrubias couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Paraguay defense, Dennis Zingler kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacobo Nores. The Paraguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacobo Nores should have stopped the shot. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Zingler in the 19th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Göksel Müfit in the 21st minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, F.C. Augsburg 1907's goalkeeper Achim Meyers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Pardo. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Zingler in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacobo Nores prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Göksel Müfit in the 37th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Göksel Müfit's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacobo Nores was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Prophet Hamilton-Maurice received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jaime Pardo to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of F.C. Augsburg 1907 booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Pardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Göksel Müfits short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Jacobo Nores to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Göksel Müfit could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Jacobo Nores made a huge save. Jacobo Nores made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Göksel Müfit sent off a good shot on target. Paraguay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Göksel Müfit scored to the left of an out of position Jacobo Nores, making the score, 0-3. F.C. Augsburg 1907 made a substitution. Kai-Uwe Themel replaced Dennis Zingler. Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kai-Uwe Themel's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kai-Uwe Themel got free with Jacobo Nores in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Norbert Haase was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kai-Uwe Themel in the 90th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Norbert Haase's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Norbert Haase helped the player get up and apologised. In the 93rd minute, Norbert Haase hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kai-Uwe Themel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. The F.C. Augsburg 1907 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing F.C. Augsburg 1907 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
