The supporters of THE CLUB booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Alvarado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carmine Mancinelli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Noboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. 18 minutes into the game, Carmine Mancinelli threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. With a little luck, THE CLUB's Guo Ling Nan got control of the ball when Milagros Fraga tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dancho Chochov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The crowd rose to their feet as THE CLUB's Leocadio Hebia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rolando Noboa. That made the score 4-1 after 53 minutes of play. 55 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Preslav Famparski came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. THE CLUB's Guo Ling Nan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 59th minute of play. Guo Ling Nan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 61st minute of play. Peru's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chavdar Belezhkov in the 94th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Gallo in the 97th minute of play forced THE CLUB's goalkeeper Guo Ling Nan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. THE CLUB's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
