In the 15th minute Fachri Puang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 minutes of play, Bandung Tigers's Fachri Puang made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rolando Noboa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mekki Item took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the match, Bandung Tigers's goalkeeper Mekki Item had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Bandung Tigers's Mekki Item proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Bandung Tigers from getting a goal against them. 26 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Zulkarnaen Mandaga came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Bandung Tigers made a substitution. Kiki Murtopo replaced Fachri Puang. The wind increased when Zulkarnaen Mandaga made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 56th minute of play forced Bandung Tigers's goalkeeper Mekki Item to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Bandung Tigers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. 60 minutes into the match, Peru's Milagros Fraga sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mekki Item narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Mina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mekki Item breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Radomir Gajewski fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bandung Tigers's protests and gave Radomir Gajewski a yellow card for diving instead. They were angered to see Peru lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
