In the 11th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Giorgio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Ramon Iztal's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Dante Lacasa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Antonio Giorgio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. 40 minutes into the game, Luca Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Antonio Giorgio was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramon Iztal's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ramon Iztal made a kick off. Antonio Giorgio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 51st minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Ramon Iztal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
