Marcos Burni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Mariano Lacasa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Burni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 25th minute of play forced Berserkers FC Ψ's goalkeeper Marcos Burni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Juan-Ramón Verón to make the kick off. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan-Ramón Verón, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Berserkers FC Ψ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chile the free kick.
