Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. Piara Lider made in the 26th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Everardo Enmanuel immediately put the ball in play. When Everardo Enmanuel fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter Miami CF's protests and gave Everardo Enmanuel a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Inter Miami CF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Everardo Enmanuel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34thth minute of the game Amado Muc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Teo Pacorro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Juan Raúl Riquelme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inter Miami CF's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan Raúl Riquelme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Camilo Gaos charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
