The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Severo Elequemedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emiliano Lucado made in the 13th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Lucas Alario immediately put the ball in play. An unexpected shot in the 14th minute by Lucas Alario got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Lucas Alario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Lucas Alario stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Lucas Alario tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Lucas Alario came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ruhi Ongay kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. The corner led to A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Ildefonso Aritza getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Alario in the 52nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anier Pereyra in the 56th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Lucas Alario's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 58th minute of the game.
