But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 蒋悦鸿 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 11th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 雷瑜彬's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. 雷瑜彬 helped the player get up and apologised. 雷瑜彬 hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. In the 18th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 严朋源 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 蒋桑光 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 蒋悦鸿 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Patricio Costa took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised 蒋悦鸿. 蒋悦鸿 dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. 蒋悦鸿 made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. After 65 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was 巩峰风 who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 69th minute. In the 71st minute 严朋源 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 蒋悦鸿 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 75th minute. A nice corner shot did that Salvador Gisbert got away a dangerous shot. Despite this 蒋悦鸿 quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 76th minute, 雷瑜彬 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, 严朋源 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 严朋源, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. 蒋悦鸿 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 蒋桑光 in the 92nd minute of the match. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 94th minute of play. The shot was stopped by 蒋悦鸿 but with some difficulty. If 蒋桑光 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
