The Paraguay fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when Paraguay's Jaime Pardo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With his leg Jacobo Nores managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when FC POLI TIMISOARA's Emilian Tărău fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Manuel Culiță hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 37th minute of play forced FC POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Cazimir Marincean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of FC POLI TIMISOARA's Cazimir Marincean. Cazimir Marincean was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Paraguay were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emilian Tărău stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cazimir Marincean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Pardo in the 60th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Robert Nestor during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Emilian Tărău stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Emilian Tărău tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cazimir Marincean stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaime Pardo's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Cazimir Marincean made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Pardo in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Jaime Pardo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cazimir Marincean was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandru Maghear in the 92nd minute of the match. Paraguay played a much better game than FC POLI TIMISOARA and deserved their victory. The FC POLI TIMISOARA players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
