The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Emiliano Lucado in the 8th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Venezuela's Jose Correa. A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Lucas Alario got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 12th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Severo Elequemedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. In a very dangerous position, a player in A.D Atlético Villa Gesell fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 15th minute. Penalty! A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Ildefonso Aritza quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Guillermo Mariano, made in the 17th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Alejo Loren got a free kick in the 18th minute. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Severo Elequemedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Lucas Alario slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 2-0 after 23 minutes of play. In the 28th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Lucas Alario came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36thth minute of the game Lucas Alario who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 41 minutes, Lucas Alario managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucas Alario was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 43rd minute, Lucas Alario got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 45 minutes, Lucas Alario managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucas Alario was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Venezuela booed when A.D Atlético Villa Gesell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rollo Kildemose didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's Emiliano Lucado got a free kick in the 56th minute. After a defensive mix-up in A.D Atlético Villa Gesell's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severo Elequemedo came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucas Alario in the 60th minute of play. Severo Elequemedo made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. Severo Elequemedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 70th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Lucas Alario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Lucas Alario came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Emiliano Lucado in the 79th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Venezuela's Jose Correa. In the 80th minute of the game Guillermo Mariano made a throw-in which Tomas Illescas played forward. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Patricio Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Severo Elequemedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Severo Elequemedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Lucas Alario recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Lucas Alario notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
