Moises Tafalla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aquilino Aguilera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. 3 minutes into the match, Moises Tafalla notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Los Diablos Rojos's Aquilino Aguilera. Aquilino Aguilera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 5th match minute, Honduras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doug Bermudez in the 7th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13thth minute of the game Edmundo Espiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Los Diablos Rojos's Aquilino Aguilera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 18th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aquilino Aguilera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maximo Cloyo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. Aquilino Aguilera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmundo Espiga's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The supporters of Honduras booed when Los Diablos Rojos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Adolfo Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. Moises Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Los Diablos Rojos's Aquilino Aguilera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 31st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edmundo Espiga in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aquilino Aguilera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Doug Bermudez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the match, Maximo Cloyo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lautaro Navarro. Honduras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maximo Cloyo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honduras's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Espiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aquilino Aguilera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aquilino Aguilera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmundo Espiga's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. A collision led to Los Diablos Rojos getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Maximo Cresenciano hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edmundo Espiga made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anastasio Gizon in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lautaro Navarro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 53 minutes, Anastasio Gizon made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doug Bermudez in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th match minute, Los Diablos Rojos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximo Cresenciano to maneuver through the defense. After 68 played minutes Los Diablos Rojos got a freekick which was hit by João Adolfo Mota. After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Anastasio Gizon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Anastasio Gizon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 74 in the game by Edmundo Espiga from a close distance when the talented Aquilino Aguilera managed to make a qualified save. Los Diablos Rojos's players were relieved. Edmundo Espiga struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Aquilino Aguilera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. In the 79th minute, Doug Bermudez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los Diablos Rojos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. When Emanuel Ocampo fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Honduras's protests and gave Emanuel Ocampo a yellow card for diving instead.
