In the 26th minute, Oliver Giroud hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 29 minutes, Mattias Lenberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bɪᴀɴᴄᴀ ŦС's supporters rose to their feet, but Hjalmar Pååk was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 67th minute Oliver Giroud shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Oliver Giroud stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Oliver Giroud tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92ndth minute of the game Oliver Giroud who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
