In the 9th minute Jāzeps Pics shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jānis Lielais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after SK Annenieki's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jānis Lielais quite easily take care of the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Artūrs Sagalats notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jānis Lielais made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Jānis Lielais in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 31st minute, Alberto Tafalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Mancebo could shoot a difficult shot in the 34th minute, which Jānis Lielais however easily saved by the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 37 minutes, Jānis Lielais successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 38 minutes had been played when some careless play by SK Annenieki's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 40th minute of play forced SK Annenieki's goalkeeper Jānis Lielais to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Indris Tomass's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute.
