Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 13th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dragomir Marchovski. Stone City's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pavel Balc in the 16th minute of play. Julio Vera was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Derek Yu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Derek Yu really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Stone City's Dragomir Marchovski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of play. Pavel Balc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 41st minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Ecuador were furious when Antonio Arias was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests.
