A collision led to Juniors FC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Ezequiel Barco hit a great ball. In the 5th minute Isidoro Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lázaro Colon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lázaro Colon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Nicanor Porfirio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alex Cambeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Cambeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 23 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Alex Cambeiro. Nicanor Porfirio hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 26th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abraham Alguacil to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Uriel Isias took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Marcos Cotilla to make any attempt to save it. Juniors FC's Lázaro Colon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 33rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Uriel Isias got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Juniors FC booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Garrido didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Uriel Isias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Juniors FC's Enrique Frasco was substituted for Uriel Isias. Juniors FC made a substitution. Jerzy Piszczor replaced Daniel Loi. Lázaro Colon made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Isidoro Sarmiento sent off a good shot on target. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Frasco in the 64th minute of play. Marcos Cotilla stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enrique Frasco's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Eduardo Gervaso kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After 73 played minutes, Panama's Abraham Alguacil shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lázaro Colon came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Panama reached it. 75 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Frasco came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Aaron Barrios had to leave the field with a concussion. Enrique Frasco's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Enrique Frasco helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Juniors FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Isidoro Sarmiento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Lázaro Colon made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Frasco in the 89th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
