But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Mathieu-Maxim Toussain fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Vinckx in the 31st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Izak Capellemans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 minutes, Paul-Louis Van Caubergen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lions United and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Jonathan Venegas's late challenge caught a Lions United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 45th match minute, Lions United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carl Vinckx to maneuver through the defense. Izak Capellemans didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Christoph Van Ghele mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lions United and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. Christoph Van Ghele kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Izak Capellemans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Izak Capellemans saved Lions United from getting behind. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Tomas Illescas took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Izak Capellemans to make any attempt to save it. In the 70th minute, Venezuela's Patricio Costa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Izak Capellemans. Izak Capellemans yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. After a defensive mix-up in Lions United's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Izak Capellemans came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Vinckx in the 81st minute of play. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carl Vinckx's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. Izak Capellemans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 90th minute of play. 94 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Vinckx came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Jonathan Venegas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Venezuela could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Lions United throughout the match.
