All Boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 3 played minutes All Boys got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Casomiro. Mauro Montay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Mauro Montay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, All Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Mauro Montay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, All Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Mauro Montay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafin Toribio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mauro Montay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita suffered a concussion after 30 minutes and had to leave the field. Ecuador's Luz Palacio was substituted for Daniel Zorita. All Boys's Mauro Montay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Palacio in the 33rd minute of play. Fernando Aguirre charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernando Aguirre the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Palacio in the 34th minute of play forced All Boys's goalkeeper Mauro Montay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 47 played minutes, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mauro Montay came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luz Palacio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mauro Montay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 53rd minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luz Palacio took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mauro Montay. Mauro Montay dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 61st minute Serafin Toribio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Luz Palacio made a precise shot to the right of Mauro Montay. All Boys's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After 67 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luis Andino made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mauro Montay was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mauro Montay prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Filomeno Maule hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. All Boys's Mauro Montay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 75th minute of play. Luz Palacio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Mauro Montay made a huge save. After 78 minutes, Agustín Saelices made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. All Boys's Mauro Montay tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Luz Palacio might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mauro Montay. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luz Palacio ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 82nd minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mauro Montay. Mauro Montay yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. Mauro Montay came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Luz Palacio. But to his dismay, Luz Palacio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. After 89 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luz Palacio made it 0-8 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mauro Montay was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Braulio Azevedo fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored All Boys's protests and gave Braulio Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when All Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Braulio Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mauro Montay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The All Boys fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
