Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rigoberto Bastiaro in the 3rd minute of play. When Peru's Julian Murillo in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Glorioso Deportivo Cali's goalie prevented a goal. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rigoberto Bastiaro in the 12th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by Peru's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jacindo Baezabal was slow to take the kick. During this time Glorioso Deportivo Cali's players had a chance to rest. In the 15th minute Glorioso Deportivo Cali were awarded a corner. Jacindo Baezabal went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 15th minute, Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Teofilo Mascarañas fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Rolando Noboa was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. Moises Gayoso made in the 17th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Julian Murillo however managed to control. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 18th minute of play forced Glorioso Deportivo Cali's goalkeeper Ivar Bjurström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivar Bjurström was left in no man's land by his defense there! A sloppy throw-in by Alonso Berganza in the 32nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Gervasio Basallan. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Rigoberto Bastiaro sent off a good shot on target. Ivar Bjurström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivar Bjurström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rigoberto Bastiaro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Noboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Gervasio Basallan threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Alonso Berganza quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Ivar Bjurström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rigoberto Bastiaro to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Alonso Berganza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Milagros Fraga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Ivar Bjurström made a huge save. The throw-in from Gervasio Basallan in the 57th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Alonso Berganza. In the 60th minute of the match, Julian Murillo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ivar Bjurström saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Ivar Bjurström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Glorioso Deportivo Cali's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Julian Murillo scored to the left of an out of position Ivar Bjurström, making the score, 0-3. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Ivar Bjurström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Glorioso Deportivo Cali from getting a goal against them. Ivar Bjurström came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Antonio Tenorio. But to his dismay, Antonio Tenorio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Ivar Bjurström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafael Gallo in the 96th minute. The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
