In the 6th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Feteanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, Politehnica Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Emilian Feteanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iosif Porumbescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. After 17 minutes Politehnica Iasi's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiberiu Dulgherescu in the 19th minute of the match. Emilian Feteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emilian Feteanu. Politehnica Iasi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Politehnica Iasi's Tiberiu Dulgherescu got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilian Feteanu having to interfere. The supporters of Politehnica Iasi booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Emilian Feteanu. Emilian Feteanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Emilian Feteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. Felix Montes was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the match had gone on for 51 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Emilian Feteanu to make any attempt to save it. If Iosif Porumbescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th match minute, Politehnica Iasi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iurie Trişcu to maneuver through the defense. Emilian Feteanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 70th minute. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Politehnica Iasi from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiberiu Dulgherescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of play forced Politehnica Iasi's goalkeeper Emilian Feteanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Dulgherescu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iosif Porumbescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Camilo Gisbert charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Politehnica Iasi's Iosif Porumbescu got a free kick in the 95th minute. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Politehnica Iasi.
