The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Gaspar Cedro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hilario Ramos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 43rd minute, Fulgencio Javiero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Deportivo Pomelo Nenene getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Damian Damario hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Micky Capusotto made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's Cosme Shantala got a free kick in the 55th minute. Tomas Illescas, 56 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. Hilario Ramos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 72 minutes into the game, one of Venezuela:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 75th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Patricio Costa scored 2-2 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hilario Ramos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Hilario Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Hilario Ramos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 89th minute of play. Fulgencio Javiero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Venezuela were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
