Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mitar Momić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. If Višeslav Putinčanin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eliseo Noboa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Boris Čović having to make a save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. Krsto Rankić charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Krsto Rankić the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Krsto Rankić hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Alexander Carballo hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Janča Sokolov in the 84th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Axel Tasis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Boris Čović tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Costa Rica players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
