Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Waterbury Rangers's Shayne Cagle started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Boyd Donnelly made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waterbury Rangers's Boyd Donnelly played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 18th minute of play. After having played for 23 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play forced Waterbury Rangers's goalkeeper Boyd Donnelly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute. Boyd Donnelly made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. Waterbury Rangers's Boyd Donnelly played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 36th minute of play. In the 37thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Waterbury Rangers's Boyd Donnelly was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Boyd Donnelly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 54th minute. Shayne Cagle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 64 minutes, Boyd Donnelly successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Cordero in the 68th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shayne Cagle in the 70th minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Waterbury Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ryan Esparza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Boyd Donnelly tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Boyd Donnelly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Waterbury Rangers made a substitution. Truman Haines replaced Alfonso Buck. Truman Haines tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Boyd Donnelly. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-1 in the 78th minute. When Waterbury Rangers's Rodolfo Cordero in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. In the 84th minute, Jude Blankenship hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Boyd Donnelly. Waterbury Rangers's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyd Donnelly having to interfere. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
