When the match clock showed 32 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Teofil Sobczak sped through Colombia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Pedro Manzanares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manolito Puyol, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. The throw-in from Lokman Oğuzbay in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Colombia's Antonio Indiano. Axel Montenegros short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Gavino Raymundo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 40th minute Axel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gavino Raymundo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teofil Sobczak in the 41st minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teofil Sobczak to make the kick off.
