In the 27th minute of the match san isidro got a corner. Panama's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gösta Kihlberg ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Cleto Camerino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Mieszko Bierfass tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Berganza in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mieszko Bierfass saved san isidro from getting behind. In the 72nd minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mieszko Bierfass saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Panama's Mieszko Bierfass threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tomas Berganza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
