After 4 played minutes, Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Aurre Salado shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Glorioso Deportivo Cali reached it. 5 minutes into the game, Alan Moruga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Glorioso Deportivo Cali the free kick. Aurre Salado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 12th minute Aurre Salado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Cesario Urtaza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicholas Urria having to interfere. In the 28thth minute of the game Axel Tasis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Nicholas Urria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 29th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Aurre Salado couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 30th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Costa Rica. Nicholas Urria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aaron Alcocer in the 34th minute. Nicholas Urria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Tasis in the 36th minute of the match. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicholas Urria was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. In the 44th minute, Ruisko Perucho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Nicholas Urria proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Glorioso Deportivo Cali from getting a goal against them.

Aurre Salado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 60 minutes into the game, Eliseo Noboa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Nicholas Urria was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 71st minute of the match Juan Rubio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicholas Urria skillfully saved the ball. Alexander Carballo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 74 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 73rd minute of the game. One of Costa Rica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Glorioso Deportivo Cali:s goal. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Aurre Salado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ruisko Perucho in the 83rd minute. In the 85th minute, Bordat Roman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute, Eliseo Noboa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nicholas Urria was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Nicholas Urria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 90th minute of play. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Lautaro Puig came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Puig couldn't finish the play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
