Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jonathan Ferrant was out of position in the 11 minute of play, and Haroldo Bonifaco capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Haroldo Bonifaco really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 14 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mahieddine Djeballi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 17th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mahieddine Djeballi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Junction City FC's Zachary Babb dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 22nd minute of play forced Junction City FC's goalkeeper Mahieddine Djeballi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mahieddine Djeballi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 35th minute of play. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Mahieddine Djeballi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mahieddine Djeballi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Hamid Deghmani's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hamid Deghmani helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th match minute, Junction City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamid Deghmani to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Zachary Babb suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 44 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. In the 47th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Mahieddine Djeballi. Junction City FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Junction City FC's goalkeeper Mahieddine Djeballi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boudjemaa Djebbour, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boudjemaa Djebbour in the 70th minute of play. 73 minutes into the game, Guillermo Mariano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Junction City FC the free kick. In the 84th match minute, Junction City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yazid Said to maneuver through the defense. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boudjemaa Djebbour in the 92nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
