Alex Sági showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. If Alex Sági had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dario Alegría in the 27th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Walmyr Salles came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manfredo Gerber hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in AVAÍ F.C.'s zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jailson Teles came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Venezuela's Jose Correa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Manfredo Gerber in the 54 minute of the game. Tomas Illescas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Jailson Teles skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dario Alegría in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Alex Sági sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Dario Alegría ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. AVAÍ F.C.'s Rubens Cabral was substituted for Tarcisio Chaves.
