Themis Efthimidis kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Agustín Saelices was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 7th minute. Ecuador's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kostas Kourmouzis having to make a save. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kostas Fasoulis, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After 14 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fanis Skaltsas who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Fanis Skaltsas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Thodoris Loubakis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Thodoris Loubakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Themis Efthimidis hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kostas Fasoulis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kostas Kourmouzis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute. Christodoulos Troglis's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christodoulos Troglis helped the player get up and apologised. After 43 minutes, Themis Efthimidis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Xarilaou FC and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 43rd match minute, Xarilaou FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Themis Efthimidis to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita's shot from long distance in the 44th minute was not bad at all, but Xarilaou FC's Kostas Kourmouzis knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Kostas Fasoulis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Juan Sebastián Puig fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Juan Sebastián Puig a yellow card for diving instead. After 57 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. After a rather tough play, Xarilaou FC's Fotis Mitsis got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kostas Kourmouzis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Xarilaou FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Achilleas Kanavatsos hit a great ball. In the 74th match minute, Xarilaou FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achilleas Kanavatsos to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stratos Kabantais in the 89th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Thodoris Loubakis tried to sneak it across the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Stratos Kabantais came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stathis Kapelis hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match.
