In the 33rd minute of the game Diego Bradley made a throw-in which Monty Rogers played forward. With a little luck, Espen Steelers's Gregor Kobel got control of the ball when Cassius Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. Williams Imholz hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. If Alain Berset had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cassius Byrne got free with Gregor Kobel in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cassius Byrne to make the kick off. Stan Wawrinka kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Gregor Kobel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassius Byrne in the 51st minute of play. Gregor Kobel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogelio Montez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gregor Kobel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Khalid Parry, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. USA walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
