In the 22nd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. Amadeo Walme hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Osvaldo Vergílio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 78th minute. Rafa Alves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquin Gayoso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Rafa Alves came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
