In the 28th minute Espen Steelers were awarded a corner. Williams Imholz went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Espen Steelers's Williams Imholz to fire away a dangerous shot which Marco Day despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Espen Steelers's zone, Monty Rogers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregor Kobel came out of the goal and Monty Rogers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 42 minutes into the match, USA's goalkeeper Marco Day had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alain Berset. The supporters of USA booed when Espen Steelers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenny Rubin didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The wind increased when Cassius Byrne made the kick off in the second half. Cassius Byrne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregor Kobel having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Espen Steelers's Stan Wawrinka got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alain Berset, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cassius Byrne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Gregor Kobel made a huge save. In the 59th minute USA were awarded a corner. Cassius Byrne went to the cornerflag to take it. USA's Diego Bradley was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gregor Kobel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 60 minutes of play, USA's Diego Bradley made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gregor Kobel was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a left leg Marco Day saved USA from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Khalid Parry in the 88th minute of play forced Espen Steelers's goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Espen Steelers's Gregor Kobel got control of the ball when Sam Campbell tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of USA booed when Espen Steelers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stan Wawrinka didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Khalid Parry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. USA played a much better game than Espen Steelers and deserved their victory. The Espen Steelers players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
