Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Luca Rouco almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Pendex's Ruperto Nayely did a great save. Pendex's Nelson de Brito quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Leonardo Leoz, made in the 25th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Haroldo Vidal during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Haroldo Vidal hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The Pendex players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
