Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Saverio Fidele tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Flavio Profeta struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. In the 85th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 86 minutes, Felix Montenegro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Chelco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Baldomero Rufio got free with Julio Vera in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th minute of the match Chelco FC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Flavio Profeta ran over to the corner to take the kick. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Aznaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. 92 minutes into the match, Chelco FC's Baldomero Rufio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
