Mădălin Lunca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sebastião Quintal got free with Rolando Noboa in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luz Tejedor was the one to do the kick off. The throw-in from José Pedro Borges in the 51st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. In the 58th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julian Murillo to maneuver through the defense. Alonso Berganza hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benjamin da Fonseca in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
