Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Fiambalá getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Helmut Lips hit a great ball. If Stein Jamieson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by David Bucciarelli. 13 minutes into the match, David Bucciarelli dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-0. A collision led to Fiambalá getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Helmut Lips hit a great ball. Fiambalá's Angelino Thomas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 27th minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Luis Andino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Angelino Thomas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Angelino Thomas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Bucciarelli in the 37th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Bucciarelli to make the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 55 minutes, Angelino Thomas successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angelino Thomas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. In the 60th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelino Thomas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Fiambalá was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Helmut Lips didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Cristian de Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Angelino Thomas. Angelino Thomas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. A hard shot 72 in the game by Daniel Zorita from a close distance when the talented Angelino Thomas managed to make a qualified save. Fiambalá's players were relieved. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stein Jamieson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The nice shot from Cristian Sancho in the 83rdth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Angelino Thomas had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. After having played for 85 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Bucciarelli in the 88th minute of play. David Bucciarelli scored 2-2 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 95 minutes, David Bucciarelli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fiambalá's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Bucciarelli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
