After a defensive mix-up in Guns And Roses's zone, Primitivo Escribano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernand Hierro came out of the goal and Primitivo Escribano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jaime Pardo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernand Hierro having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a free kick in the 7th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Jaime Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Pardo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernand Hierro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorge Arnas kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Angelito Demaria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Romero to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Guns And Roses was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Cordara didn't get a good kick on the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Marco Romero notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Guns And Roses's Fernand Hierro. Fernand Hierro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fernand Hierro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Pardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Marco Romero scored 0-2 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernand Hierro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Raul Venegas charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raul Venegas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Raul Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. If Marco Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Paraguay were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernand Hierro having to interfere. Marco Romero struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Fernand Hierro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernand Hierro having to interfere. With a little luck, Guns And Roses's Fernand Hierro got control of the ball when Ivan Prats tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fernand Hierro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime Pardo in the 57th minute. Marco Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Iker Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iker Tafalla couldn't finish the play. 61 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Guns And Roses's Fernand Hierro. Antonio Cordara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Primitivo Escribano notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Guns And Roses's Fernand Hierro. Fernand Hierro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Toni Molina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. After having played for 85 minutes, Jaime Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Pardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Pardo got free with Fernand Hierro in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 91 minutes into the game, Juan Diego Tenorio threw the ball into play from the sideline. Guns And Roses's Aldo Enetz quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 96 minutes into the game, Marco Romero cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Fernand Hierro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match was over Paraguay could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Guns And Roses throughout the match.
