Without hesitation aimed to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Francisco Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Uruguay's attentive Alberto Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Anibal Platon made a throw-in in the 22nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francisco Seco in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fernando Prassov saved Club Deportivo Norte from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Mete Gambetta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After 26 minutes, Marco Mederi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Deportivo Norte and the Uruguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Deportivo Norte. Ramon Gómez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. The Club Deportivo Norte fans' excitement grew in the 93rd match minute when Club Deportivo Norte's Mete Gambetta looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Club Deportivo Norte succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Uruguay had controlled the match.
