They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to fire away a dangerous shot which Walmir Dias despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Montenegro could shoot a difficult shot in the 63rd minute, which Walmir Dias however easily saved by the left post.
