Tony Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 3rd minute of the match. Caetano Félix sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clayton Sergi in the 7th minute of the match. 9 minutes had been played when some careless play by SE Palestra Itália's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tony Chaves quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Chaves having to interfere. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in SE Palestra Itália's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tony Chaves came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 38 minutes, Betão Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SE Palestra Itália's supporters crossed their fingers, but Betão Vargas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Betão Vargas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SE Palestra Itália's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tony Chaves came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's Luis Andino suffered a concussion after 47 minutes and had to leave the field. Caetano Félix's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caetano Félix helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SE Palestra Itália getting a freekick after 49 minutes play. Caetano Félix hit a great ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Betão Vargas managed to get in a good position for a shot. SE Palestra Itália's supporters rose to their feet, but Betão Vargas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Tony Chaves in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Tony Chaves made a huge save. SE Palestra Itália's Cristóvão Madureira was substituted for Acar Buğrahan. Caetano Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. If Richard Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tony Chaves was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Mancebo in the 71st minute of play forced SE Palestra Itália's goalkeeper Tony Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, SE Palestra Itália's Richard Mendes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Vargas in the 74th minute of play. Tony Chaves made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Campon in the 79th minute of the match. Felix Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Tony Chaves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Bruno Campon kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Mendes in the 93rd minute of play. When Betão Vargas fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SE Palestra Itália's protests and gave Betão Vargas a yellow card for diving instead. Betão Vargas hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. With his leg Tony Chaves managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 97th minute, Betão Vargas made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but SE Palestra Itália were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
