El Salvador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itajaí Football Club the free kick. Rubens Abreu struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Ricardo Zorita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itajaí Football Club. 68 minutes into the game, Itajaí Football Club's Carlos Eduardo da Costa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Eduardo da Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Zorita having to make a save. In the 91st minute Conrado Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo da Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Ricardo Zorita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Eduardo da Costa went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 11-0 was the resulting score.
